There are three ways to order Full Moon Bar-B-Que without standing in line, and they are not equivalent. Ordering direct through fullmoonbbq.com or the restaurant's own system charges you menu price. Ordering the identical food through a delivery app charges you 15 to 25 percent more before a single fee is added. On a menu built around a $6.99 sandwich, that difference is the whole story.
The three routes, ranked
- The Full Moon website or app. Menu price, no markup, pick your restaurant and a collection time. This is the correct default.
- The phone. Still the most reliable way to place an unusual or large order, and the only way to ask a question. With around thirty restaurants run store by store, the person answering knows more about today than any website does.

Two or three dollars an order sounds small until you notice it is 20 percent of the reason to eat here. Full Moon's entire position is that it undercuts every other barbecue chain in America on price — a marked-up Full Moon sandwich is just a normal sandwich.
Timing an order-ahead
Kitchens open at 10:30 and the lunch rush runs from about 11:30 to 1pm. What you choose as a collection time matters more than when you place the order:
- Place it at least 20 minutes ahead for a normal order of sandwiches or plates.
- Allow 30 to 45 minutes if the order includes Southern Fried Catfish, Love Me Tenders or Fried Green Tomatoes — those are cooked to order, not scooped.
- Do not schedule a collection between 11:45 and 12:45 if you can avoid it. Your food will be ready; the parking lot will not cooperate.
- Large orders: call, do not click. Anything over about eight meals should be a phone conversation with a confirmed pickup time. The catering page works through the per-head numbers.
Curbside, and what varies
Curbside pickup exists at many Full Moon locations but not all, and the mechanics differ — some have marked spaces and a phone number on a sign, some expect you to walk to the counter and collect. This is a thirty-restaurant regional chain, not a thousand-store national one with a uniform playbook, and the honest answer is that the app will tell you what your store offers when you select it. Do not assume the location you used in Birmingham behaves like the one in Huntsville.
The same caveat applies to rewards. Full Moon runs promotions and email offers, and some locations participate in loyalty schemes, but there is no single chain-wide points program that works identically everywhere. If a discount matters to you, ask at the counter rather than hunting for a code — and note that a military discount at participating restaurants is usually worth more than any online offer.
Getting the order right
A few things that are easy to fix in the notes field and impossible to fix in the car.
- Ask for chow chow on the side. The pickled relish is the signature of the pork sandwich, and packed on the side it holds better and gives you control.
- Sauce in containers, not on the meat. Pork holds heat well; sauce poured on before a fifteen-minute drive makes bread soggy.
- Confirm the Half Moon Cookie. It is free with every meal and it is not a line item, which makes it the easiest thing in the building to forget to pack.
- Check the vegetable of the day. It rotates and the price is set locally, so what the website shows may not be what is in the pan. If you are ordering a vegetable plate, this is worth thirty seconds.
