Two things to establish about Dallas BBQ and Thanksgiving. First, it does not run a holiday turkey program — there is no whole smoked bird to preorder, no sides package, no pickup deadline to miss. Second, and more usefully: these are New York City restaurants in high-traffic neighborhoods, which makes them far likelier to be trading on a holiday than a suburban chain, and one of the easier tables in Manhattan on a day when everything else is booked or shut.

Is Dallas BBQ open on Thanksgiving?
Usually, but confirm. Locations in the tourist-facing parts of the city — Times Square, the Upper West Side, Chelsea — serve a population that is not cooking at home, and restaurants in those neighborhoods generally stay open through the holiday calendar. Hours on the day are commonly shortened from the usual 11:30am to midnight, and individual locations make their own call. The Harlem room on 125th Street, Downtown Brooklyn and Fordham in the Bronx may run differently from the Midtown rooms.
Call the specific restaurant. That is not a hedge, it is how this chain works — hours vary location to location on ordinary Tuesdays, and the variance widens on a holiday. The Dallas BBQ hours guide covers the standard week and why the closing times move.
The parade problem
If you are near the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade route, plan around it rather than through it. The Upper West Side location sits close to where the parade forms and moves, and Times Square is where the crowd ends up; both fill early and stay full through midday. Be first through the door at the 11:30am open, or take an easy table at 4:00pm once it disperses. Delivery is the third option, though couriers crawl city-wide that morning.
There is no turkey to order — and that is fine
The only turkey on this menu is ground and on a bun: Turkey Burger ($16.99), Turkey Cheeseburger ($17.99), Turkey Burger Salad Bowl ($16.99) and Turkey Cheeseburger Salad Bowl ($17.99). Nobody is going to Dallas BBQ for a Thanksgiving turkey dinner, and the chain does not pretend otherwise. What it does have is rotisserie chicken and ribs at prices that make feeding a group on a holiday genuinely painless, plus the biggest frozen drinks in New York, which is a more honest reason to be there.
What to order for a group
For six people, the build that works: two Chicken & Baby Back Ribs Combos ($17.99 each), a 50:50 Bucket ($22.99), Sticky Wings (10) ($22.99), a large Onion Loaf ($9.99), and sides across the table — Yellow Rice ($4.99), Cole Slaw ($4.99), Corn on the Cob ($3.99) and Cornbread ($3.50). That is roughly $125 of food before drinks for six people on a national holiday, which is not a number most New York restaurants can print in late November.
Skip the Double Rack Ribs ($27.99) as always and order two Half Rack Ribs ($12.99) instead for $25.98. If you want dessert, there is exactly one: Churros ($9.99). It is the right way to finish.
Drinks make it a holiday
The frozen program is the reason to choose this over a diner. A Super TX Moscato Mamacita is $19.99 — the same price as the Texas size and roughly double the glass, which makes it the table order. Non-drinkers get the identical spectacle from a Super Texas Size Virgin Frozen at $14.99, and the Regular Virgin Frozen ($6.99) keeps the under-21s at the same table with the same drink in front of them. That is a real advantage on a family holiday, and it costs less than a bottle of wine.
If you are feeding people at home instead
Dallas BBQ is not a caterer in the chafing-dish sense, but takeout scales. Rotisserie chicken, ribs and the quart formats reheat cleanly; the fried menu does not travel. What works is spelled out in the Dallas BBQ catering guide, and every price above comes off the full Dallas BBQ menu. In holiday week, call the location rather than trusting an app with a large order.
