Sonny's BBQ catering is priced per person by number of meats, which makes it the easiest barbecue catering menu in the country to budget against. One meat is $14.49 a head, two is $16.49, three is $18.49. There is no package decoding and no minimum tier to reason about — you multiply.

What it costs by group size
The single most useful fact here: going from one meat to three costs $4.00 more per head. On a fifty-person order that is $200 to eliminate every complaint about there being nothing someone wanted. Take three meats. The savings from restricting people to one are not worth the conversations.
Do it cheaper by the pound
If you are willing to supply your own buns, serving spoons and chafing setup, buying meat by the pound undercuts the catering sheet badly. Pulled Pork is $16.99 a pound and a pound feeds about three as a main. Sliced or Chopped Brisket is $23.99, Sliced Pork $17.99, Sliced Turkey and Pulled Chicken $16.99, and the Hot Link is the cheapest thing on the sheet at $16.59.
Roughly nine pounds of mixed meat covers twenty-five people and runs about $160, against $412 for the same headcount on the two-meat catering package. The gap is real, but the package includes sides and service — do the pound math only if you genuinely want to run the buffet yourself.
Bulk sides
Sides come in three sizes and a large feeds roughly fifteen people. Mac & Cheese and Potato Salad are the pricier pair at $28.99 large, $12.69 medium and $8.49 small. BBQ Beans, Coleslaw and Green Beans run $26.99, $11.69 and $7.49. Two larges cover thirty guests for about $55 — cheaper per head than any other line on the order.
The platters nobody else has
This is where Sonny's separates from the counter-service chains. The party trays are built for standing-around events, not plated meals:
- Burnt Ends Platter — $79.99. The one nobody expects and everybody finishes.
- BBQ Wing Platter / Smoked Wing Platter — $69.99 each.
- BBQ Meatballs Platter — $59.99.
- Smoked Buffalo Chicken Dip — $55.99 and Pimento Cheese & Hotlink — $55.99.
- Chicken Tender Platter — $54.99, which is what you order when children are coming.
A useful build for an office party of thirty: one Burnt Ends Platter, one Smoked Wing Platter, the Chicken Tender Platter and two large sides. That is about $260 and needs no plates. Compare the approach against other chains in the BBQ catering menu guide.
How much meat per person
- One third of a pound per adult with two or more meats and two sides
- Half a pound per adult if barbecue is the only main course
- Count children under twelve as half an adult
- Add gallons of tea rather than cans — Gallon Sweet Tea is $5.99 against $3.49 for a single glass
Timing and what travels
Order at least 48 hours ahead and further for a weekend or a holiday, and confirm lead time with your specific restaurant — Sonny's runs about 100 locations and kitchen capacity is not uniform across them. Pulled pork, beans and mac travel best; ribs and anything fried are the items that suffer most in a warmer. If the group is small enough, the Family Feast and bundle pricing is the cheaper route, and the full item list is on the Sonny's BBQ menu.
