This is a chain whose entire argument is price — a pork sandwich from $5.49, a full Pork Dinner from $10.99, a Feed 10 Family Pack at $69.99 — and a third-party app's markup and fee stack eats a larger share of a cheap ticket than an expensive one. Here is how delivery actually works across the fifteen or so East Tennessee restaurants, and when it is worth doing.

Which apps carry Buddy's
There is no chain-wide delivery contract to point at. Buddy's is a family-run regional operation that has stayed near Knoxville since 1972 and publishes very little centrally — it will not even commit to a single price for a pork sandwich, listing most items as a range instead. Delivery coverage follows the same pattern: it is decided restaurant by restaurant, and the app serving the Knoxville locations may not cover Sevierville or Maryville.
Search your address in DoorDash, Uber Eats and Grubhub and see which returns a Buddy's. Check the listing is the restaurant itself rather than a courier-created page with a stale menu — a giveaway is prices that do not match the ranges published on the Buddy's Bar-B-Q menu.
The markup math, honestly
Third-party menu prices typically run 15 to 25 percent above in-store, before the delivery fee, the service fee and the tip. On a $5.49 sandwich that is roughly a dollar of markup, which sounds trivial until you add the rest of the stack.
Read the first row again. A single sandwich delivered costs more than double what it costs at the counter, because the fixed fees do not shrink to match a cheap order. Buddy's is the worst chain on this site to order small on delivery and one of the best to order big — the fee stack is roughly the same either way, so it spreads across a Feed 10 at about seven percent instead of across a sandwich at over a hundred.
What survives the trip and what does not
- Chopped pork travels well. Hickory-smoked shoulder, chopped rather than pulled, holds heat and moisture in a covered container better than sliced meat does. This is the order.
- Hushpuppies do not. Ten for $3.99 is the best value on the menu and they are excellent within twenty minutes of the fryer. Thirty minutes in a sealed bag and they steam into something dense. Skip them on delivery.
- The Hawg Back is a gamble. Buddy's signature at $8.99 for pork is an open-faced serving, meaning sauced barbecue sitting directly on bread. That bread is soaked by the time it reaches your door. Eat this one in the restaurant.
- Smoky Wet Rib Dinner from $13.99 holds up; ribs are forgiving. The Chicken Finger Basket at $9.49 does not — fried and breaded, same problem as the hushpuppies.
- Meringue pie ($3.49 a slice) is fragile. It will taste right and look wrong.
- A Gallon of Sweet Tea ($5.99) is the single best thing to add to a delivery order. Nothing about it degrades.
The case for driving instead
With roughly fifteen restaurants clustered around Knoxville, Maryville, Sevierville and the surrounding towns, most people ordering Buddy's are within a fifteen-minute drive of one. Given a fee stack that can double a small ticket, curbside or in-store pickup is the default recommendation here in a way it would not be for a chain charging $18 a plate. Delivery makes sense at family-pack scale. The Feed 5 at $34.99 or Feed 10 at $69.99 spreads the fees thin, and the food in those packs is the food that travels best.
